  • EEOC Re-Instates Its EEO-1 Reporting Requirements: Reports Due July 19, 2021

As the COVID-19 pandemic improves, the United States Equal Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) has re-instated its EEO-1 reporting requirement. Employers must submit their EEO-1 reports for 2019 and 2020 by July 19, 2021. Employers may begin reporting their workforce’s data via the EEOC’s online portal here.

Employers may recall that an EEO-1 report provides a demographic breakdown of an employer’s workforce by race, ethnicity, and sex by job category.  The report is mandatory for private sector employers with 100 or more employees and certain federal contractors. The EEOC generally notifies employers who are required to file an EEO-1 report.

The EEOC has provided employers with an instruction booklet (here) and a helpful list of FAQs, which may be accessed here. We encourage employers to review the EEOC’s resources before filing their EEO-1 reports.
