Ahad Syed

Ahad Syed is an associate at MNK Law with hands-on legal experience tailored to providing business owners humanized legal solutions to complex legal problems. After operating his own law firm for several years, Ahad knows how to identify client pain points, offer  a custom “plan of action” that resonates with each client, and lead them through seemingly uncertain, difficult legal challenges with clear communication and attention to detail. His practice areas at MNK focuse on a mix of transactional, intellectual property (IP), and civil litigation.

Experience

Ahad developed extensive experience helping businesses acquire, maintain, and enforce their trademark IP rights. He has filed over 300 trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and worked closely with clients to successful trademark registration. He oversaw large trademark portfolios for clients, successfully overturns Office Action refusals, and defends and enforces trademark and copyright rights in federal court as well as the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

Earlier in his career, Ahad worked as an attorney in Chicago, Illinois, where he handled matters involving harm to business owners, business contract disputes, intellectual property (copyright and trademark), defamation and First Amendment issues, privacy law, and commercial litigation. During law school Ahad was a judicial extern for the Honorable Donald G. Wilkerson (Ret.) at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. He served on both journal and moot court, serving as Articles Editor for the University of Illinois Journal of Law, Technology, & Policy and participating in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court (Budapest, Hungary & Vienna, Austria). Ahad attended law school on a scholarship and completed it with the CALI Award for highest grade in two courses—one of which was a clinic where he worked directly with clients under the supervision of a licensed attorney).

While Ahad assists MNK client’s across the country, he is licensed in the states of California and Illinois.
